#GETSTARTED

Working carefree as a founder and not thinking about risks — this is where we support you.

Together we will define your insurance needs for your start-up.

Insurance for founders

As a founder, your budget is tight right from the start. Nevertheless, insurance is unavoidable right from the start, especially for founders. The choice of insurance is large and the time to deal with it is limited.

In order not to strain your budget unnecessarily, it is therefore important to choose tailor-made insurance cover.

Your most important insurance policies at a glance.

We have selected nine insurance companies that are important for you as a founder in the first step.

# 1

commercial liability
insurance

To ensure that you, your business and your employees are protected from third-party claims, you need business or professional liability insurance.

If you or one of your employees cause personal injury, property damage or financial damage to a third party due to an accidental mistake, this insurance will cover you.

# 2

Legal protection insurance

Legal protection insurance is particularly valuable for you so that you can also seek advice from a specialist lawyer for start-ups. Often a lot of things are new, such as the chosen corporate form, the market environment, the website, personnel responsibility or tax obligations.

Legal costs, legal fees and expert costs should be insured. A good legal protection provider will also give you free, comprehensive advice - before a legal dispute arises.

# 3

Contents insurance

Contents insurance protects your inventory, goods and supplies.

Whether in the event of fire, water damage or burglary: Contents insurance covers damages if the equipment of your business is destroyed or damaged. We will explain to you who needs contents insurance, which items are insured and how high the insurance premiums are.

# 4

Business interruption
insurance

A business interruption can occur in a variety of ways. Due to fires, water damage, burglary, theft, storms or even natural damage. Appropriate insurance ensures that you can get back to work quickly.

With business interruption insurance you protect against loss of income for your company. During the downtime, the insurance company pays the wages and salaries of your employees, the rent for your company building and the leasing fees, for example for company vehicles or equipment.

# 5

D&O insurance

The Directors & Officers Liability Insurance (D&O insurance) protects when decisions are made at management level.

If you as a manager make a wrong choice that harms your company or others, you could face high claims for damages. The insurance prevents you from being liable with your private assets. It protects you financially and legally by covering financial losses and offering legal support. This means you are fully protected in the event of damage.

# 6

Health insurance

Health insurance is often forgotten in the excitement of realizing an idea. But it's worth taking a look at private health insurance. In contrast to statutory health insurance, the contributions here are not income-dependent.

If you make good profits right from the start, you will be insured more cheaply with private health insurance because you won't have to pay any premium increases due to high income.

Many founders often remain legally insured due to the initially low contributions, but are quickly confronted with increasing contributions as soon as profits increase. The increasing contributions also apply retroactively.

# 7

Occupational disability insurance

To ensure that an incapacity to work never turns into an insolvency, this protection is particularly essential for founders, as their own labor is vital to their existence in the beginning. Anyone who cannot earn an income and does not have high financial reserves is at risk of financial failure.

Occupational disability insurance protects you with monthly pension payments in the event of occupational disability due to illness or accident. The quicker you decide on this protection, the lower the premiums will be.

# 8

Accident insurance

Private accident insurance comes into force if an accident causes long-term mental or physical impairments or even leads to death.

Accident insurance also offers support for the temporary consequences of an accident. In contrast to statutory accident insurance, the protection provided by private insurance usually extends to all hours of the day and worldwide. In contrast, statutory insurance only covers accidents at work and accidents on the way to work.

# 9

Retirement provision

As a founder, you often concentrate on getting your company off to a good start, rather than on getting older. But young entrepreneurs in particular have to make provisions for their own retirement.

Statutory pension rights are only limited or non-existent. The later you start a suitable savings plan, the higher your contributions will be in order to achieve your target income in old age.

We therefore recommend that you implement your pension plan two to three years after founding your company.

The insurance portion is often not taken into account in budget planning.

However, this step is extremely important in order not to be unpleasantly surprised. We therefore recommend early advice, even before the business plan.
